The Trans Africa Overland tour is the ultimate overland challenge. From the markets of Fez and Marrakech, we pass through the Atlas Mountains into theWestern Sahara following the ancient trading routes and camel trains into Mali. On through the jungles of Ghana, you travel to Togo andBenin where local cafes and beaches provide endless variety of entertainment. Cross to Nigeria into Cameroon, and continue on through The Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. Etosha National Park and the sand dunes of Namibia are two of the numerous sights we will visit in Southern Africa as we make our way to Cape Town and the end of our 22 week section. We then head North towards Botswana and the Okavango Delta. Next is the adrenalin rush of Victoria Falls before relaxing on a Lake Kariba Houseboat. Onto Lake Malawi followed by the Spice Island of Zanzibar for some well deserved down time on the white sand beaches.Tanzania and Kenya give us an amazing array of game parks before heading into Uganda in search of the magnificent Mountain Gorillas, and finishing the 30 week tour in Nairobi. Travelling from Kenya you will have the opportunity to see the Mountain Gorillas before passing through Ethiopia and the Sudan. Driving across the Nubian Desert you will soon arrive at the Nile. Egypt, Jordan and Syria follow before ending this amazing 43 weeks in Istanbul.  

You see the Gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda or DR Congo. The Gorilla permits are payable on the spot and can only be paid in US dollars cash. The cost of the permit is approx $500 payable to the Park authorities. There is also a small charge to get up to the Gorilla viewing area. The price of the Gorilla permits can change without notice. Seeing the Gorillas may involve you having to get extra visas on the borders; this changes with each trip and with the country you see them.
