Tour Itinerary

We suggest you arrive at least two days before the tour start date to explore Kathmandu. There is so much to see and do and the markets are never ending. Wander up and down Freak Street and Thamel and bargain with the shopkeepers; chill out in a local restaurant and try the local staple… ‘daal bhaat’; settle into one of the many restaurants and coffee houses..

There are plenty of environmentally friendly cycle rickshaws that can be hired very cheaply to tour around. As well as the many well-known and frequented sites in and around Kathmandu, there are literally hundreds of shrines, temples and other oddities tucked away in nooks and crannies all over and around the ancient city.

Day 1:                         Accommodation:        (D)

Namaste! Arrive in Kathmanduto be greeted by your Tour Crew at the Tribhuvan Airport from where you will be driven to the beautiful Dwarikas Hotel, a living museum. The food is a treat here and the setting very peaceful and relaxing. Overnight Dwarikas Hotel, Kathmandu.

Day 2:                         Accommodation:        (B, L, D)

Members of the group who would like to participate in the optional Mount Everest scenic flight will be picked up at approximately 05:45hrs and whisked off to the airport, returning for a delicious Dwarikas breakfast before taking in the sites of Kathmandu. Your city tour includes a visit to Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashpathinath, Durbar Square (Kathmandu) and Bodhnath. Finish the day with a nine course Nepali meal at the unforgettable Krishnapan Restaurant at Dwarikas. Overnight Dwarikas Hotel, Kathmandu.

Day 3:                         Accommodation:        (B, L, D)

We go north towards Tibet on the Arniko Highway and stay at the Last Resort for two nights; the Tibetan border is less than 15km from here.  You  stay in very comfortable and spacious permanent tents. The resort is so well designed; the tents and permanent buildings can’t be seen until you virtually stumble upon them. There is a delightful bar and dining area here, a great place to have an intimate conversation and dinner; or wine and dine with a group of friends. The Last Resort is a great place for the group to bond.Drive time, three to five hours. Overnight Last Resort.

Day 4:                        Accommodation:         (B, L, D)

The Last Resort is perfect for the adrenalin junky or for someone seeking peace, relaxation and solitude. If you are so inclined… you can jump off a suspension bridge with some kind of elastic band attached from your ankles (option)… or you can stand on the side lines, firmly grounded with terra firma and witness this unusual spectacle! For those less adventurous, there are other activities such as canyoning, cycling or rope walking. Take a village / cultural / bird-watching walk; or perhaps an oil massage or sauna  capped off with a Nepali coffee with a dash of delicious local rum. This magical little place is a slice of heaven. A visit to Nepal isn’t complete unless a stay at the Last Resort is included on your itinerary. Overnight Last Resort.

Day 5:                        Accommodation:         (B, L, D)

After lunch we drive back towards Kathmandu and overnight at Dhulikhel, about 25kms east of the capital where you stay at the beautiful Himalayan Shangrila. If the gods are kind,  you will have a clear day and be afforded beautiful Himalayan views. The Himalayan Shangrila is a lovely break in the drive between Last Resort and Nuwakot. Drive time two to four hours. Overnight Dhulikhel.

Day 6:                         Accommodation:         (B, L, D)

We head northwest to the quite remote Nuwakot region and take a steep drive upto a little known village called Nuwakot. Here we stay at a typical Nepali Farm House. The accommodation here isn’t five star, but the service certainly is. Drive time is 6 to 8 hours. Overnight Nuwakot; Nepali Farm House

Day 7:                         Accommodation:        (B, L, D)

Experience a real cultural experience here at Nuwakot. Take a walk around the abandoned palace and visit eager school children or just relax at the farm house and enjoy stunning views of the Nuwakot Valley. Overnight Nuwakot; Nepali Farm House

Day 8:                         Accommodation:       (B, L, D)

Quite a bouncy off-road drive out of the Nuwakot Region and on to the charming village of Bandipur. Located up on a high ridge, this village affords beautiful views of the Himalayas, including Manaslu and Machhapuchhare. Soak in the easy going and quiet lifestyle of the locals. Drive time 6 to 8 hours.. Overnight Bandipur.

Day 9:                         Accommodation:       (B, L, D)

This superb lodge is situated on a spectacular hilltop ridge a thousand feet above the Pokhara Valley, it has panoramic mountain views of Machhapuchhare, and three of the world's 8,000m peaks, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu. Drive time 3 to 5 hours. Overnight Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge.

Day 10:                       Accommodation:        (B, L, D)

Drive into Pokhara for a wander through this laid back city, take a boat ride on beautiful Lake Phewa or stay put at Tiger Mountain. Relax, hike, swim, enjoy the views, take a massage or sauna… the choice is yours.  Overnight Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge.

Day 11:                       Accommodation:    (B, L, D)

From Tiger Mountain we head down south to the Terai to Tiger Tops located in the heart of Chitwan National Park. One of, if not, the most respected National Parks in Southern Asia. We have two nights in this sanctuary. Drive time 5 to 7 hours. Overnight Tiger Tops

Day 12:                       Accommodation:     (B, L, D)

Can you imagine riding an elephant through the grasslands of Chitwan National Park as it rumbles its suspicions that a tiger is on the prowl in the first light of day? Blend into the surrounding bush and jungle, take a boat ride. Overnight Tiger Tops

Day 13:                       Accommodation:     (B, L, D)

Drive back to Kathmandu and Dwarikas. We have a final group meal at the Kaiser Café Restaurant in the beautiful Garden of Dreams in the centre of Kathmandu. Drive time 6 to 8 hours. Overnight Dwarikas Hotel, Kathmandu.

Day 14:                       Accommodation:      (B)

Farewell and end of trip. We see you safely to the airport and personally bid you farewell.

NOTE:
Nepal does not run like clockwork; therefore please do not expect the streamlined travel arrangements associated with some other continents. There will be times when you will need to be patient and philosophical about your travels and have a sense of humour.
The scheduled drive times include lunch, photo and toilet stops.
