About us

Where to begin about us... Well, we started out as Backpackers. Many, many, years ago. We then became Guides, Overland Drivers, Operations Managers and Owner/Operators. We have lived in the UK, Europe, Central America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. We have built and designed Overland Trucks, and built and designed tours. We have worked for some of the biggest Tour companies out there, and some of the smallest. We have worked for/with some of the best and we have worked for/with some of the worst. We have been hired, fired and re-hired. We have met some incredible people, and we have met some idiots. We ourselves have been incredible people, and we have also been idiots. We have made mistakes, and we have learnt from them, and no doubt we will make a few more. But that I guess, is life.

It is all quite malleable, but the one constant in all of this is our passion for travel.

In all, the last 20 odd years have been spent travelling the globe or working at travelling the globe: Africa, South America, Central America, North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia....And there are still many places we want to see and experience. They say the world is small, but until you look at what you have NOT seen of it, it is really quite big! Wanderlust is a wonderful disease and for the lucky ones who get to act on that wanderlust, they can only be all the more wiser for it.

Keystone Journeys has been designed to focus on adventure journeys and first time encounters for travel enthusiasts and travel virgins. It is a travel website born of a wealth of knowledge and first hand experience (both good and bad...) and the simple fact that we want to offer some great trips to people who are looking for great trips. We will not sugar coat the realities of certain destinations, we will not promise anything unattainable, we will not tell you lies to get your booking and we will absolutely offer suggestions for alternative travel if what we have turns out to not be suitable for you; that is, we will not coax you to book a 10 week Overland tour if what you are really after is a 2 week luxury safari.

We have a great deal of respect for the companies we work with in Africa, South America, the Middle East, Morocco, Central Asia, Galapagos and Antarctica. And of course, New Zealand. To inappropriately book a person on a tour that is not suitable for them spoils the experience for everyone involved: other passengers, Drivers, Guides, crew etc - but mostly for the person booked on the wrong tour. You will not only think we have done a poor job, but you will have had a bad experience in a country and culture that would otherwise have been a holiday of a life time.
